A New Roof and a Little Holiday Kindness in Knoxville
Sometimes roofing is about more than shingles, repairs, and protecting a home. Sometimes, it’s about recognizing when someone needs a helping hand.
Just before Christmas in December 2024, the Barnett Roofing team had the opportunity to do exactly that for Knoxville homeowner Betty Blackburn.
After discovering that Betty’s roof was in serious need of repair, Barnett Roofing made the decision to replace it completely free of charge. The story was featured by WVLT News.
A Roof That Needed More Than a Repair
According to WVLT, Betty’s previous roof had been installed in 2011, but problems with the installation had left it in poor condition. Once the Barnett Roofing team began removing the existing shingles, they discovered that the damage went beyond the surface.
The roof decking had deteriorated to the point that new sheathing was needed before the new roofing system could be installed.
Barnett Roofing Production Manager Aaron Brown told WVLT that the crew arrived around 6:30 that morning and got right to work, removing the old shingles and replacing the damaged material underneath.
And for Betty, who lives by herself, there was one very important detail:
There was no bill waiting at the end of the project.
Barnett Roofing covered the entire cost of her new roof.
